Rudbecks Ost & Deli
Cheese shop, deli and café with mid 2Oth century Danish design
Ex-farmers Edit and Niels Christian Rudbeck opened Rudbecks Ost & Deli in the spring of 2011 with a goal to create a delicatessen, cheese shop and café out of the ordinary. The passionate family focuses on flavor and sustainability in their product selection. They offer a wide range of Danish cheeses and own produced condiments, jams and marmalade and other personal selected delicacies.
In the open kitchen daughter Tilde offers a delectable brunch & lunch menu with rustic smørrebrød (open-faced Danish sandwiches), platters, grilled sandwich and a tasty burger. Tilde also makes her own butter, and buttermilk. She uses the buttermilk together with concentrated North Sea water to make a fabulous sea water ice cream. She also bakes a selection of organic breads and cakes to go with a cup of coffee or tea.
The cozy and comforting interior is furnished with second-hand mid 20.century Danish design classics from Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Bjørn Wiinblad, Kähler ceramics, and Holmegaard glass. The shop shelving in Brazilian rosewood is designed by Poul Cadovius.
Last year Rubecks was overrun by their own success, so they reduced the number of tables to ensure that the family can take the time to pamper guests and shoppers and offer their complete devotion to create a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, so if you want to dine make a reservation in advance.
