Rudbecks Open Kitchen
Cheese shop, deli and café with mid 2Oth century Danish design

Ex-farmers Edit and Niels Christian Rudbeck opened Rudbecks in the spring of 2011 with a goal to create a delicatessen, cheese shop and café out of the ordinary. Their daughters Tilde and Line and son-in-law Michael took over the place in early 2018. The passionate family focuses on flavour and sustainability in their product selection. They offer a wide range of Danish cheeses and own produced condiments, jams organic wine and marmalade and other personal selected delicacies.

In the open kitchen,  Tilde offers a delectable brunch & lunch menu with rustic smørrebrød (open-faced Danish sandwiches), platters, grilled sandwiches and a tasty burger with beef from cattle grazed on the Southern part of the island. Tilde also makes her own butter and buttermilk. She uses the buttermilk together with concentrated North Sea water to make a fabulous sea water ice cream. She also bakes a selection of organic bread and cakes to go with a cup of coffee or tea.

The cosy and comforting interior is furnished with second-hand mid 20. century Danish design classics from Poul Henningsen, Bjørn Wiinblad, Cado chairs by Steen Østergaard together with Kartells masters chairs by Philippe Starck and Eugeni Quitllet. The shop shelving in Brazilian rosewood is designed by Poul Cadovius. The walls are adorned with Wadden  Sea National Park wildlife paintings by acclaimed local artist Marco Brodde.
